I was wondering how fashion have changed India and how people have become really brand conscious. And especially I noticed the change in metropolitan cities. I studied in a college which had one of the most happening crowds in Bangalore, and naturally fashion and dressing up was one of the main priorities of the students. During my time most of my college crowd dresses up only in branded clothes. Every one used to wear an Adidas or Reebok or a Bennetton and others who wear local stuffs were labeled as someone with bad taste! As I came to the next year I noticed the brand consciousness had reach another label- a higher one! My juniors were dressed in Mango, Tommy Hilfiger, Lacoste and stuffs! Now with all these big brands like Gucci, Chanel and Guess making an entry in India, I would be surprised if the next generation dresses up in that.

What I could say from all these is that being fashionable is alright, but not to an extent that you become one fashion slave and of course being too brand conscious! I have seen people just buying a Lacoste or Tommy even though they can’t afford it! It’s okay to buy clothes from big brands but only when you can really afford, right? And on top of that being fashionable means wearing what suits us! Being fashionable is being able to carry off the clothes smartly! I have seen my friends who shops from roadside and still looks like a brand ambassador of D & G because of the way they carry themselves. Now that is what I call real Fashion!
